“The absolute best thing you can do as an independent author who wants to write and market multiple books is to start and maintain an email newsletter.”
- Jodi Cowles, Enormous Hypocrite
Every couple weeks in my role as writing coach, project manager, and publishing friend at Blue Hat Publishing, I find myself repeating those words. And then I follow them immediately by telling our authors about the <cough> “monthly” newsletter I myself send out once every six months.
However. I really am an independent author who wants to write and market multiple books, even though I recently had to leave the room when someone started reading one of my poems aloud...
Here I am, trying to grow as a person right in front of you. 😆
So, I’m going to ask you right now — you stalwarts who’ve subscribed to this <cough> “monthly” newsletter because you’ve enjoyed some of my writing in the past (or you’re related by blood) — would you do something for me…
There is an actual, quantifiable difference in the way Amazon’s algorithm treats books that have 50 reviews or more. If you’ve read and enjoyed one or more of my books, would you be willing to take a couple minutes and go write a quick review? It doesn’t have to be seven doctoral-thesis-worthy paragraphs — a simple sentence or two mentioning your favorite part or why you liked the book is perfect.
I’ll make the ask as easy as I can… 😜

That’s it for this “month’s” newsletter. I have to stop there or I’ll dilly dally for another couple months trying to come up with something deep and meaningful. 🤣 Feel free to message me if you don’t hear from me for another six months!
